Stompin’ Dave Electric Duo
You might not have had the chance to see Dave in action, but many consider him one of the most exciting, energetic, and entertaining musicians on the current live music scene. Based in Bridport, Dorset, Stompin’ Dave was nominated for a UK Blues Award 2024.
“In other parts of the world they have cyclones, tornados, and hurricanes, in the UK we have Stompin’ Dave. Dave is a phenomenal artist…A great guitar player and vocalist and accomplished songwriter…he is also an outstanding dancer… ” Blues In The South. A prolific artist in the studio, Dave is a former member of former UK Blues Band of the Year The Producers. Dave has consistently given over one hundred performances per year across the UK and beyond, including many major festivals such as Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, and Bestival. “Let’s face it, in adding the quality of his original material the man is a downright genius” Blues In Britain.
With his song-writing Dave has engulfed himself in the masters of American roots music, remained true, but managed to produce “not…a sound of yesteryear that should be in a museum but real, modern and relevant that should be heard live” Blues Matters.
Almost always joining Dave in this line-up is Lucy Piper on drums “one of the UK’s leading blues drummers” The Guardian. Residing in Exeter, Devon, Lucy is the daughter of the late blues guitarist Julian Piper widely acknowledged as leading UK authority on blues. Julian played guitar on Lazy Lester’s 1987 album Rides Again which won a Blues Music Award. Universally recognized as the highest award in blues music.
In 2019 and 2020 Lucy worked with double Grammy Award winning Ruf Records on their annual ‘Blues Caravan’. As well as appearing on USA based Ryan Perry’s album High Risk, Low Reward which was nominated for a Blues Music Award 2020.
Lucy and Dave have been performing regularly together since 2022 with many appearances at various festivals and art centres. 2024 performances included Gloucester Blues Festival, and Congleton Jazz & Blues Festival, Cheshire, as well as making their first major festival appearance at Wilderness Festival, Oxfordshire. In 2025 the duo made appearances at York Blues Festival, Upton Blues Festival, The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Lancashire and many others!
Dave and Lucy have currently released five albums together. “The sound is authentic, with a richness that’s as good as any of the best blues albums.” Blues In Britain. “Great guitar work, fine singing and authentic lyrics and melodies.” Blues In The South. “Here’s two fabulous musicians delivering a record that deserves huge recognition, a modern blues album rooted nicely indeed in the traditions of the past.” Blues In Britain.

STOMPIN' DAVE & LUCY PIPER AT WORTHENBURY tickets £15 by contacting petevans@btinternet.com
We are delighted to welcome Dave and Lucy on their first visit to north Wales. They are based in Devon and guitarist and vocalist Dave was recommended to us by our friends in the band The Producers. He is a superb guitarist and gets his moniker from using a stomp box in quite a unique way...he tap dances the rhythm! He plays a variety of blues styles but more particularly the blues from the North Mississippi Hill country in the style of R L Burnside. In 2024 he was nominated for an award in the UK Blues Federation Awards.
Lucy is a very much in demand drummer and The Guardian quoted " ...one of the country's leading blues drummers". She has played with Dave since 2022 and also regularly plays with Mississippi MacDonald. Her late father Julian Piper was a notable blues guitarist, writer, promoter and producer who spent time in Louisiana playing and recording with many legends and Lucy has followed in her father's footsteps and has visited and played in Mississippi many times including with the late Leo 'Bud' Welch who played for us a number of times.

Kaspar & Lucy (Support) w/Belle & Chain, The Craufurd Arms
BELLE & CHAIN is a goth country band fronted by Spencer Grammer. With breathy vocals like Dusty Springfield and stoic lyricism melding Johnny Cash to Portishead, at times sounding like a songstress on an episode of True Detective.
